Overview
Bladder cancer begins in the cells of the bladder lining. While it can affect anyone, early diagnosis is crucial for effective treatment. We provide a full range of oncological care from diagnosis to surveillance.
Symptoms
- Blood in urine (hematuria) - often painless
- Frequent urination
- Painful urination
- Back pain
Diagnosis
Diagnosis typically involves a cystoscopy (visual inspection of the bladder) and imaging scans. A biopsy (TURBT) is used to confirm the cancer type and stage.
Treatment
Surgical Removal
Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor (TURBT) removes the tumor. For advanced cases, removal of the bladder (cystectomy) may be needed.
Therapies
Intravesical chemotherapy or immunotherapy (BCG) is often used to treat early-stage cancer and prevent recurrence.
