Overview
Ureteroscopy involves passing a thin, flexible scope through the urethra and bladder to reach stones in the ureter or kidney. A laser is then used to break the stone into dust.
The Procedure
No incisions are made. Once the stone is fragmented, the pieces are removed with a basket or washed out. A temporary stent may be placed to ensure urine flow.
