Overview

Chronic prostatitis is long-term inflammation of the prostate gland. It can cause persistent pain in the pelvic area and urinary symptoms. It is a common condition in men of all ages, including the elderly.

  • Pain in the perineum, testicles, or lower back
  • Painful urination or ejaculation
  • Frequent need to urinate

Treatment

Medication

Antibiotics (if bacterial), anti-inflammatories, and alpha-blockers to relax muscles.

Therapy

Prostatic massage or physical therapy for pelvic floor muscles.
