Overview
Nephroblastoma, also known as Wilms' tumor, is the most common type of kidney cancer in children. It typically affects children aged 3 to 4 years.
Symptoms
Common symptoms include a swelling or lump in the abdomen, fever, blood in the urine, and high blood pressure.
Treatment
Surgery
Removal of the affected kidney (nephrectomy) is the standard treatment.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is often used before or after surgery to shrink the tumor or kill remaining cancer cells.
Radiation
Radiation therapy may be used in more advanced cases.
