Overview
Vasectomy reversal is a surgery to reconnect the tubes (vas deferens) that were cut during a vasectomy. This allows sperm to enter the ejaculate again, restoring the ability to conceive naturally.
The Procedure
This is a delicate microsurgery. The surgeon reconnects the two ends of the vas deferens (vasovasostomy) or connects the vas deferens directly to the epididymis (vasoepididymostomy).
Success Rates
Success depends on several factors, including the time since the original vasectomy. Generally, the sooner the reversal is done, the higher the chance of success.
Recovery
Recovery takes about 2-3 weeks. You will need to avoid heavy lifting and sexual activity during this time. Sperm may reappear in the semen within a few months.
